What Is Satta Matka? A Beginner’s Guide

The short version

"Satta matka" is a number-based game with roots in mid-20th-century Mumbai. The word matka means "earthen pot" — in the earliest version, numbers were physically drawn from a pot. Today the pot is gone, but the vocabulary stuck, and results are declared as sets of numbers at fixed times each day.

On Mama567 we are strictly an information platform: we publish results and historical charts so people can look them up in one place. We do not run any game.

The words you will keep seeing

  • Market (or game): a named result stream such as Kalyan, Milan Day, or Rajdhani Night. Each market declares its own numbers on its own schedule.
  • Open and Close: most markets declare twice a day — an open result earlier and a close result later.
  • Pana (panna): a three-digit number that forms part of a result.
  • Ank: a single digit derived from a pana by adding its digits and keeping the last digit of the total.
  • Jodi: a two-digit pair made from the open ank and the close ank.

How a result reads

A full result is usually written as open pana – jodi – close pana, for example 123-64-579. The middle two digits are the jodi; the outer three-digit groups are the panas.
